Got a good suggestion for an adhevise to use when sticking vellum on cardstock? I use Vario tabs almost all of the time when putting card components together, but those white tabs showing through vellum will not look pretty. I sure would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Sue
I read another post about this. I personally have never tried the vellum tape. Heard several complaints and some that do like it. Most people liked to use the Xyron to attach it. That way, nothing shows through. I ordered one today. But I don't get it until Christmas.

I would definitely vote for the Xyron when adhering vellum. However, you can always use ribbon, eyelets or brads!

Thank you very much for these great ideas. I see the word "xyron" every once in a while in a post here and I've wondered exactly what it is. There must be a website I can check out. The brad is a great idea - I'm actually using a small heart brad on the front of this card so if I use one to hold the vellum on the inside it would carry the theme though. Ribbon is another good idea. Again, thank you very much. Now I can finish my cards. I'm sort of new to all of this. Sue
Okay, now I have another question. I want to print the greeting that's on the vellum on my computer. I just did a test sheet and after I got it cut and into the card I noticed the ink smears. My printer is an ink jet. Help!!!!
Sue
I have found that after I print onto vellum, it is best to take my hair blow dryer (NOT our heat gun!) to quickly dry the ink before it has a chance to smear.
Okay, I set the printer on transparency, turned the vellum to the other side, dried it with dryer. No smears! But I think I'll also do Angie's suggestion and leave it overnight, just to be safe. Thanks again girls, you saved me much frustration. Sue
Dittos on letting the ink jet printed vellum dry for a LONG time! I printed out complete pages of sentiments that I worked up on my computer -- when I first used them I was frustrted that they tended to smear. I put them away in a folder and forgot about them for months. I just recently used them again and discovered they no longer smeared...hmmmm. I, too, tried drying them with a heat gun and it only moderately improved the smear factor.
One other way to connect vellum to a panel is to make the vellum wider than the card and wrap it to the back of the panel. Other than that, brads and ribbon are the best. I have the vellum tape and it is difficult to get on without showing through - you can use only dibs and dabs because a full "line" of it shows. I don't really care for the look that they Xyron gives to vellum. It adheres it beautifully, but every square centimeter of the vellum is glue flat and it loses the floaty, cloudy beauty that is an important part of vellum.
Any other ideas, anyone?
True vellum does not absorb the ink as paper does. People ink on vellum all the time - drafting, architects, cartographers, etc. Just give it sufficient drying time.
I use Xyron or brads usually to attached vellum. Also, if you are layering over the vellum; you could place the adhesive under the upper layer and that way the vellum stays secure and there are no unsightly adhesive marks visible. HTH.

The only thing I have found that adheres vellum without showing through is spray adhesive. Make sure you shake the can really well. 3M makes a really good one that is also acid free. You want an even coat and make sure you're not too close. I would practice on a plain sheet first to see how the can sprays and to figure out your position.
For printing vellum I always change the ink setting to low and change the setting to heavy duty paper. Prints fine for me. I will try and transparency setting and see how that works.
You might try putting embossing powder on the vellum and heat emboss. Be very careful not to let the vellum get too hot. Also try heating on the underside of where you stamped.
If I'm putting something over the vellum (some sort of embellishment, more paper, whatever), I use double sided tape to adhere it--I just hide the tape behind what I've put on top of the vellum. I have used a teeny tiny piece of double sided tape to adhere vellum that nothing is going on top of, with pretty good results. Not perfect, though. I like the spray adhesive idea. I think I'll give that a shot.
When printing on vellum I just use a tif fixative. Just spray the vellum after I have printed on it and it doesn't smear and I don't have to wait over night for the ink to dry.
