50th Birthday Help Needed!
I am working on a surprise birthday party for my sister on May2nd. When I turned 50, she gave me 1/2 of a "Happy 100th Birthday" card, and told me I'd get the other half when I turned 100! Then she proceeded to give me a bunch of gag gifts that rubbed the big "50" in my face.
Well, you know what they say about "payback". I am making her 50 birthday cards, all with the Red Hat Society theme (if I can come up with that many). I need help with the sayings, etc. to put inside the cards. I know with all the creativity on this site, you ladies will be able to help me! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Patti

I have a few candidates for you. They're not ALL mean  :
****************************
Young at heart,
slightly older in other places !!
Youth is a gift of nature.
Middle Age is a work of art !!
Life is like a roll of toilet paper...
the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
Another birthday and you still have
that youthful glow.. . . .
or, is it a hot flash?
We heard you were celebrating
another birthday...
Well, maybe celebrating
isn't exactly the right word.
This has got to be
your best birthday ever!
Just think of all
the practice you've had!
Im not going to make fun of you
For being a year older . . .
Well, not to your face, anyway.
It's your birthday,
and anything you want to do
is OK by me...
...I've heard how cranky
old people get
when they don't
get their way!
Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have, the longer you live.
The older I get, the better I was.
****************************************
There, I hope that helps you a little with your "payback." Linda

50th Birthday help
No, they don't have to be Red Hat related, just older than dirt related, lol.
No, really, anything over the hill, etc would be great. I really appreciate the help labullard & mamak. I certainly won't be able to come up with 50 on my own. It's going to be hard enough coming up with the 50 different cards!
I appreciate any and all help!
Thanks again

Make sure to give her at least 1 HAPPY
FIRST B'DAY card. Then at the bottom of the saying on the inside put "Oops! That was 49 years ago"!
When I turn 50 everyone brought something 50 years old or over and displayed them on a table.
Also 50 small cakes numbered from 1st. thru 50th.(each with a picture next to it if possible)
I'm not good on sayings but I use the first b'day one all the time for different ages.
edited for spelling

You can use this theme for 6 different cards...
How to Know You're Getting Older:
Your knees buckle, but your belt won't.
Your children begin to look middle aged.
The gleam in your eye is from the sun hitting your bi-focals.
You know all the answers, but nobody asks you the questions.
You have too much room in the house, but not enough in the medicine chest.
You stop looking forward to your next birthday, but you're glad when it arrives.

The Lady and Sons restaurant here in Savannah has a similar saying on T-shirts and aprons (my mom has one of the aprons!). It says, "I'm still a hot babe -- it just comes in flashes!" Several ladies at Dad's office wanted one when they heard about it, so he had me bring back several more when I came home for the holidays!
"Well-behaved women rarely make history" is in someone's sig here on SCS, but I can't remember whose. I think it was also a stamp in one of the mini catalog sets that was popular for making RHS-themed cards.

This is sung to the tune of 'My Favorite things"
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
Maalox and nosedrops and needles for knittin',
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittin's,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs, cataracts, hearing aids, glasses,
Polident, Fixodent, false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
Then I remember my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad.
Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot foods and no food with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames...
When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes go dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

I saw a great one recently - use Red and PUrple (thing Red Hat society)
Outside
Red Hat .............. $30.00
Purple Dress........ $50.00
Feather Boa........ $20.00
Inside:
Being Happy about turning 50................ Priceless!!
It was a stamp actually and it was $12.00!!! EEK!
As for gifts,
Reading Glasses (Dollar store) - get those 1/2 ones and put a chain on them!
Tums
Depends
Metamusil (Or a box of Bran cereal!)
a cane
I am sure after another cup of coffee I can come up with a few more!
All my sisters are older and pay me back - with noisy toys for my kids!!!
Smiles

I'm not sure the link was working in the previous post. I'll just post those here (I took out the ones that didn't apply):
Chronologically gifted!
Aged like fine wine, complex & fruity.
I'm not old, I'm youthfully challenged.
Are we the grownups yet?
It's not about age, it's about attitude.
Getting old stinks, but it sure beats the alternative.
50! I demand a recount.
Happy birthday, you old bird!
Enjoy your birthday, you're not extinct yet!
Oh no, say it isn't so. Not the big 5-0!
Fifty happens!
After fifty everything that doesn't hurt doesn't work!
Your not 50, Your 18 with 32 years experience!
I can't believe you're 50; 49 maybe, but never 50!
Once over the hill, you pick up speed.
In dog years your dead.
Aged to perfection!
You're a classic, you only get better with age!
On your birthday: count your candles, count your years, count your blessings!
Nifty fifty!
Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional.
Be kind to your kids; they'll be choosing your nursing home.
Adults are just teenagers who owe money!
Avenge yourself; live long enough to be a problem to your kids!
Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.
Age is not a destination, it's a journey!
What if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?
Over what hill? What hill? I don't see any hill!
Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's over the hill I go.
Over the hill and on a roll.
Due to budget cuts, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
50 year old; one owner; needs parts; make offer.
Age is like underwear, it creeps up on you!
Age is important only if you're cheese or wine.
Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.
Few women admit their age. Few men act theirs.
Eat right, exercise regularly, die anyway.
My karma ran over your dogma.
Hard work will pay off later. Laziness pays off now!
Living right doesn't really make you live longer, it just seems like longer!
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
It's easier to get older than it is to get wiser.
Don't take life so seriously, it's not permanent.
Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.
We are born naked, wet & hungry, then things get worse.

OK, here are a few more:
The more candles, the bigger the wish.
Age is a very high price to pay for maturity.
50 is the age of discovery....you discover you're old!!!
Forty is the old age of youth;
Fifty is the youth of old age.
(Victor Hugo)

How about a big cake with lots of candles on the outside, and on the inside a picture of firemen with hoses?

Some to add to your growing collection:
Celebrate like a teenager again...get a wrinkle pierced.
[Dinosaurs on cover] Remember me/us? ... I/we used to sit behind you in homeroom.
I'm not saying you're old, but if you were a car...I wouldn't park you in my driveway without a pan underneath.
It's your birthday, and your real age is your own business...and we all know you've been in the business a long, long time.
Life is an open road...and fortunately you still have lots of gas!
Lying about your age should be easier now that you sometimes forget what it really is.
Life isn't over at 50...only the really good parts.
Old enough to give advice...young enough to set a bad example!
On your birthday, count your blessings, NOT your candles...no one wants to stand around all day waiting for a piece of cake!
On your birthday, I won't embarass you by asking how old you are...how much do you weigh?
Want to know the secret of eternal youth? .... Lie.
You know you're getting older when you stoop to tie your shoes...and you wonder what else you can do while you're down there! [George Burns]
You know you're getting old...when your own kids start to look middle-aged.

I sent my sister one that said "Mirror mirror on the wall, I am my Mother after all!" It had a piece of reflective foil inside. I also have a stamp that says "You say you are how old???" and one that says "On your birthday, you can still light up the room...and 3 city blocks", goes with a stamp that has a gazillion candles on the cake. LOL!

I love this! Savannah is one of my favorite cities. We spent our honeymoon in Hilton Head. I live in Raleigh, NC, which is hot enough, but Savannah is definitely hotter! Thanks for sharing. I'm having my 50th on May 5 - a 5/5/55 baby! Thanks for sharing, Cheri Furr
