I haven't posted my totals in quite some time. I haven't had hardly any time to play. I have had sick kids and a baby that wants to be held (which I love to do). However that doesn't seem to slow down my spending!!!! Online shopping, sales, coupons, ebay and the list is endless to the things I think I need!!! YIKES! I am almost 300 in the red. My goal is to cut myself completely off and get back in the black by the end of June (I can do it! I think.) and start the last half of the year at least with a blank slate so to speak. Wish me luck!
I am so glad to hear that somebody else is also $300.00 in the red. I keep finding good deals too. The good news is that I am actually now able to keep track of my spending but the other really good news is that now that I am participating in swaps I am actually using my supplies instead of just stockpiling them.
I have been trying to keep up, but I think I cheat on the spend amount. lol Also I short change myself in the exercise amount, so I am going with it evens itself out. lol Hey it's my game okay. lol
Okay... I go MIA and it looks like a few of you others have as well. hehe
Trying to make adjustments to having the daughter/granddaughter living with us. My stamping time is limited because its adjacent to the room the crib is in. I like to stamp with 70's music playing in the background so I've not been as creative as I need to be.
Just wanted to let you know I'm back and will update my siggy line soon.
What's everyone else up to? With conventions starting to run everywhere, are you all prepared?

Well, I've not done well. I didn't get as much time to stamp as I would have liked but I HAD to take advantage of being near a Michaels and HL when I went up to IL in March. I only went in the red about $50 but it was bad enough.
I'm out to use up all of my ValuCS and switch over to SU completely. And with the LAST CHANCE list just released from SU, I'm in so much trouble. PLUS I'm ordering to help a dear friend get her first sales in.
Let's get stamping!

Hi Ladies! I finally tracked down the thread for this year. I've been MIA since the new year for the most part working too much and a few family things but I'm back and stamping now. I did order a few things recently but I used birthday money so I'm not counting it in my total.
How are you all doing? I know even not seeing the new catty yet I'm concerned about how big my 'want' list is. Like many of us I don't have many needs any more. LOL!
Hey Christine! Good to see you back. I hope we can get this thread moving again. I was thinking of maybe setting up a couple challenge nights or something to encourage us to use up some of what we have before the new catalog makes an appearance.
I hit a stamp convention last weekend - my first in 3 years. But I only spent about $50. I was already in the hole a bit so figured I might as well do it right. LOL Oh yeah, then there was the $70 Last Chance order. Dang I hate those! hehe
But I'm out to dig myself out. Wanna help?

Hey Kelly - I would be happy to help if I can. I know I need to keep this theme in mind or I'll spend WAYYYYYY too much when the new SU catty comes out and not use them nearly enough.
I love the idea of challenges. It might be just the thing to get us all going on remembering and USING what we all have in our crafting areas or even just around the house.
I saw a thread not too long ago that reminded me about when I used to make my own "backgrounds / decorative papers". I used to have such fun just making up a bunch of polished stone or shaving cream papers so they were ready to go when I wanted them. It got me kicked in gear to get my table cleared off so I can easily work there.

I love creating backgrounds. Shaving Cream is one of my fav techniques - especially fofr ATC's.
I currently have a bunch of ValuCardstock I bought before we moved down here 2 years ago. Knowing I wouldn't have access to craft supply stores. My goal is to use it up and as I use up a color, replace it with SU. I found this awesome 8 drawer scrapbook cabinet at an auction for $5. It will give me room to divide each of the 4 color families to 2 drawers each for storing 12x12 cs. I'm adding crown molding around the top and move all my spots/ink refills to the top.
There are all kinds of challenges we could do. Color challenges, themes, use any stamp set that begins with a particular letter, etc. Can you think of any others we can add to the list?

We could pick specific challenges from the challenge threads, certain number of cards or 'projects' in a time period, 'make it my own' challenges, stamp night or day, oh there are all sorts.
It might even give me that last push to post some of my creations.
I do have a question for you all. Should I remove my "start date"? I didn't start keeping track of my exercise $ before then but I didn't make any cards or spend any money (I know shocking, LOL) so does the date really matter?
I would love to participate in another challenge! I am going to update my numbers tomorrow..... I just finished 93 6 x 6 recipe cards/pages so I should be okay but I have placed some BIG orders lately and that is scary!! We will have to see what the number show....
Dani - Congrats on finishing all those 6 x 6 pages! I'm curious to see how your numbers come out.
I tried to do Friday's VSN and got 3/4's of the way through my first challenge card when tornado warning hit and power went out for the night. Two parties this weekend so I still haven't gotten back to finish it.
I haven't posted here in a looong time. Had alot of personal problems at home but hopefully things will get back oin track. I am still in the hole big time but on a positive note, all those hours spent walking have helped me lose 20 pounds! Yay!

That is AWESOME, Jenny!
I know about things being wacky on the home front. It's why I've not posted in almost 3 months!
But I need to get back to the creativity if for no other reason then my own sanity.
Let's get those creative juices flowing so we can better deal with the junk life seems to think we need thrown at us.

Congratulations on the 20 pounds! I wish I could say the same. I exercise a lot, so I think it comes down to eating less here. I need to put a stamp in my hand, instead of food!
A few of us chatted a bit and thought that a few S2S Challenges might get us all moving in the right direction. So here is the first one. I hope you jump right in and give it a try!
Challenge Time frame: (one week) June 26 - July 3
Challenge: Make a card or project using one of your most recent crafting purchase items. Let's use what we have bought for our hobby!

Great challenge, Christine. And since I just got an SU box in the mail yesterday... hmmmm What do I play with first?

Christine (post #665) great idea! As a twist to your idea, here is what my sisters and I decided to do. When we last met to make cards we were complaining about all the supplies we've had gathering dust. So we decided that when we meet next month, we'll only use supplies that we've had the longest. Whatever is left we're going to donate to a school or church.

mrsclark - I love hearing what others do to motivate themselves to use their stuff or move it out.
Kelly - I can't wait to see what you and others come up with! My personal project is just about done and then I'll see if I can figure out how to post on SCS. ;)

Mine is almost done. I'll finish it tonight and get a pic taken. When I upload to my gallery I'll label it S2S challenge 1
I belong to a MO stamp loop and we're doing a postcard swap with a patriotic or summer theme. For past swaps I've been printing out the POSTCARD insignia info on the back of the cardstock. At the rubberstamp convention in Collinsville IL earlier this month I purchased a POSTCARD stamp. So I've used that on the back of 12 postcards. I also watched a demo at the STAMPLAND booth with Darlene (watch for her profile on my blog next month). It was all about masking. Though my first attempt at her technique didn't begin to match what she did, I did use the 'learned technique' and the stipple brushes I purchased.
NOTE - nothing I used came from the SU order I just received LOL

Okay, I finished my card and went ahead and got it posted. It's my first card that I am posting. It was made for my grandmother so I had her in mind when I made it.
I used my brand new Dew Drops and CuttleBug folder that I hadn't used yet. Like Kelly suggested I did add in the "S2S Challenge 1" keyword. ;)
Who else would like to share what they have made this week? I can't wait to see your creations!
Ugh! The new SU catty is getting to me. There are several sets I really, really want and the ICs this year are tempting me more than ever. I hope to get busy on some 4th of July goodies this week for a party I'm going to this weekend.
Do you have a color or color combination you've found yourself using a lot lately? Or is there a color in your box you find yourself staying away from for some reason?
I find myself using the pastels a lot... and I really need to use up the primaries.

I tried getting in here last night then again this morning. At home, IE refuses to load SCS. At the library - no issues. I'm thinkin it's my dial-up at home. ::: sigh :::

For some reason my post anwering this several days ago was a no show so sorry if it shows again at some point.
I don't know that I get "caught up " with a color combo much at all. I do go seasonally. Meaning I am doing summer colors now but will kick into fall colors very soon since I need so many fall type birthday cards and such.
LOL, I know, doesn't help much does it?

Well yeah, actually, it does. LOL You're a Seasonal kind of gal.
Keep that in mind as you pick up tomorrow's challenge. Think... jumping ahead a season or two, maybe ;)

Here's mine - I bought a 1/16" Fiskar's punch to make the holes in the scalloped edge. I was using an eyelet setter & hammer, but this made it much easier (and quieter!)
NicholeC - You did a great job! I love the clean and simple lines of that card! I bet it was a whole lot easier with that new punch! Thanks for playing with us!
