Being the Ms. Attorney that I am I completely read both the front AND the back of the rebate form and looks like as long as we buy the pencils by Jan 31, have the rebate postmarked by Jan 31 and send in the ORIGINAL proof of purchase we're good to go!!!
Just an FYI: I just tried to order these from Viking with the code and it looks like they are out of stock. I posted this under the Viking Prismacolor post from earlier. If anyone is able to purchase them, please let the rest of us know. Thanks!!
Viking is not out in all parts of the country. I am from Mass. and they still had them after some of you were reporting that you could not get them. Someone from Oklahoma.
Wow, I cannot believe I can get another $25.00 off! You girls are the greatest!
I posted they were on B/O and I am from NJ. But, I just did a search and tried to add it to a cart. At that point I never said where I was from. Hmmmm, maybe someone is watching me?????? LMAO
I'm Speachless. You girls are the best bargain finders I ever knew. I'm getting my pencils on Monday, and I am soooooo jazzed. I went to the art store this morning for a few things and there they were for almost a hundred dollars... and we're getting them for a grand total of $15.00!!!!! I'm delirious.

Okay it's early in the morning and when I see vikings cost of 120 pencils for $97.98 and then you get a $25.00 rebate, I not sure how you get the pencils for $15.00. Please let me know.
When I logged in Sun morning, they were $96. I wasn't sure where to put the QL2 and when I did in the "promotional code", it said it was invalid. What am I doing wrong??????
I just called Viking and they told me that the stock is depleted everywhere. The people that got lucky this weekend and got this, got the last of the stock. The next available date is February 7th. So those of us that order now won't be able to get the rebate. :( But if you order the 48 you get $5 off with the rebate.
Can anyone tell me where you put the code to place an order. When I checked on Viking, I went to the search box and typed in Prisma colored pencils and they already had a code.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
Bummer
That's odd, I just ordered them and I got my confirmation that they will be shipped on Tuesday, and that they aren't backordered. I hope they come.

On the home page there is a search box, put the code in there. At least that's what I did
Well that's not fair! :? She said she checked the stock because I mentioned that people in other parts of the country were able to order without going on backorder. When I put them in my cart it tells me that they are not available.
someone on another thread said something about your zip code. they only will ship to you from a certain warehouse based on your zip code and maybe that warehouse is out?
Here's an odd coincidence. The 120 Prismacolor pencil deal on Viking is listed here and all of a sudden ebay has 29 of these available when last weekend there were only 3. hmmmm. What do you think? I've been trying to buy a set for the past week and none have been available. :(
I just called Viking also and they told me they do not expect delivery until February 7th. I loose out on the rebate as well, but I could not pass up the bargain at under $40! How could you beat that.
Wanted to say Thank You for posting this info. I ordered today -- had to call to get the $20 off $56.98 price -- but even at $36.98 without the rebate, it is too good of a deal to pass up. She said expect delivery on Feb 2nd.
Just tried Viking. I put in the code QL2-3602. Says in stock but the price is 56.98. Is there another code for an extra rebate? I'm in So Cali.
Asela
QL2-3602 is $56.98 (for those of you not sure how to get the code in - there is an option to shop by catalog #. That is what I did). Then DZ2-PRD20 is the coupon code for $20 off a $50 purchase. It can only be used once per customer.
I also bought Scotch double sided tape and some RSVP pens while I was at it!
Ok just ordered in from Viking, on the phone. They accepted the DZ2-PRD20 Rebate. She asked if it said on the rebate if it was a online rebate only, LOL...I said "well,no". It went through! Ok grand total out here in So Cal was 41.24 (2.78 tax +1.48 handling). Thanks for the help. I have been wanting this prismacolor set of pencil for a long time now. It will be a early birthday present to me!

Question for needsmorestamps. Do you think a faxed order confirmation on the Primacolors that are backordered would be acceptable for proof of purchase?
I AM SOOO BUMMED THAT I MISSED OUT ON THE REBATE! i have wanted these for along time! But the price is so good, i tried to order anyway using just the 20 off 50 coupon code. The rep said i couldnt use it because it was only to be applied on my NEXT purchase , that it would come in my pkg with the pencils. So i cancelled my order, had to find out more info...
How can i use this now?
BTW- he said they were backordered but expected to ship them out in 7 days... Could that mean i still may be able to use the rebate after all??
Are they giving you a receipt showing the date you ordered the pencils? I would say that the date you ordered them is the date you bought them and the other date is just your delivery date. Or are they charging your CC later for the amount bought?

When you put your order through did you print a copy of your order? If you did that might work for the rebate on backorders. Bad thing is that if it needs to be postmarked by a certain date - did you need to send the upc from the original package? Don't have time to check that info for you.
The rebate states "original cash register receipt or any additional proof of purchase". I'm guessing the faxed receipt will show today's date as date of purchase since she was faxing it to my office today.
BTW- I was able to use the $20.00 discount coupon on this purchase.
regarding the date they will be avail. On the phone she told me that backorders ship within 7-10 day. I asked her to make sure on these and she said she was glad I asked because the pencils won't be avail until 2-7-05.
Hi Everyone,
I have lurking around for a while. I am the quiet type and I didn't know how much I really enjoyed SCS and all of you really smart stampers. So decided to participate and say THANKS for the info on the Prismacolors and the rebate. I ordered on Thursday night (11 pm) and received them on Friday. at 3:00 pm. It was an amazing buy with the coupon - BUT NOW another $25.00 more off. WOW! I am so happy that I read the original post and went ahead and did it. My dh was a bit unhappy with MORE stuff. But now he can't complain because I will get $25 back. Hooray. And I am off to try the pencils. And then I am going to try and find the thread about mixing them with something to make them more fabulous. (is is mineral spirits?)
If someone knows, tell me please.
Thanks from someone who admires you all!
I second that, happy stamper...I got them, and am so happy I did...I ordered them on Wednesday morning, and got them at noon on thursday! And I agree, the price is right....thanks to original poster for the rebate info!!
here is the how to concerning the mineral spirits!
I was introduced to this technique by my friend, Michele, who owns Purple Onion Design stamps....I will post a link to her instructions....and will try to copy/paste them, too....with the link, though, you can click on the example photos...if you just want the jist, then read on...Kerilou
I have gotten quite a few emails on how I color many of my cards. I keep saying I will write something up to post so here it goes. I just took pics of a very simple example. It really has more impact when using darker colors and with larger areas of space. You can get a better idea when looking at the cards I have posted. This example was done in a few seconds but will give you an idea of what you do.
My Cards
The coloring technique I am most hooked on for my images is known as Magic Colored Pencil. It is very easy and tends to be fool proof. Magic Colored Pencil makes the colors "pop" & and gives a great shaded look. The technique involves coloring with colored pencils and then breaking down the pigment with mineral spirits & a blending stump. The stumps are traditionally used with pastels. They are dipped into the mineral spirits and the image is colored by moving around the color with the stump.
Materials Needed:
Waterproof Dye Ink (Archival, Memories, Ancient Page)
Prismacolor Pencils (or other good quality colored pencils)
Odorless Mineral Spirits
Blending stumps or Tortilions (# 5 or #6 & small one for little areas)
Magic Rub or White Plastic Eraser
Pencil Sharpener
Fine emery board or Sanding Lead Pointer (sandpaper paddle for pencils)
Stamps
Cardstock
Prismacolor Colorless Blender Pencil (optional)
Click here to see a pic of the supplies used
1. Stamp your image using the waterproof ink. I tend to stamp alot in black. Make sure the
image(s) are completely dry. This shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
2. Next pick out your colored pencil palette. You should try to use about 3 different colors. This doesn't necessarily mean you will only use 3 pencils but 3 color families. You could use 2 or 3 shades of a color within that family. Using too many color families makes the coloring too busy.
3. Now take your pencil and lay down a line of color along the inside of the stamped lines. You always want to start lighter and add more color when needed. Also, add lines of color in any shaded areas of your stamped image.
Figure 1
4. Take the largest blending stump and lightly dip it into the mineral spirits. Make sure you tap the stump a few times on a piece of scrap paper before blending. You don't want the tip to be too wet.
5. Start to break down the pigment by rubbing the stump back and forth along your colored line. Start in one area and as the color starts to break down move your stump in small circular motions to pull the color into the open area.
6. Add more colored lines if you want more shading or if an area has a large open space and needs more color. The object is to leave the center lighter to create the shading. You can use the eraser to remove color if there is too much.
figure 2
7. You will need to sand off the old color before switching to a new color. Use the sanding paddle or an emery board to do this. Remember to try and keep a pointed shape to the stump. Once all the color is removed you are ready to move to the next. I usually scribble with the stump as I am tapping off the mineral spirits to make sure there is no residual color before starting up again.
8. Now your ready to lay the lines for your next color. You can also use more than one shade if you care too. I normally stick with just one color and am happy with the results. I added a few lines of a darker yellow to the daffodils on this example.
figure 3
9. Once again dip the stump in the spirits, tap off and begin breaking down the color. Add or remove color as desired.
figure 4
10. Keep repeating the steps till you are finished.
I also use a Prismacolor Colorless Blender pencil for small areas where the stump will not work too well. This pencil blends the color and smooths out some of the lines.
I hope I hit all the important parts. Please post any questions you may have. Once again take a look at my cards for better examples of the way the technique looks.
***UPDATE on locating Odorless Mineral Spirits***
It seems some people have problems finding this product. Your best bet is probably a local art store. If you don't have one then one of the major craft stores will hopefully have an equivalent product.
I happen to use odorless mineral spirits from a home improvement store. I have had it in the house for refinishing furniture way before I started stamping. I just decided to use that.
These are some of the product names others have mentioned within this post when trying to locate the odorless mineral spirits.
This is from Debbie Gimbel:
Hi, there, I just had to poke my nose here, as I am the mad inventor of Magic Colored Pencil. I'd be real happy if you used Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits, and certainly not turpentine- so much safer. You can order it from Dick Blick or Art Supply Warehouse - and they both have good quality stumps by the dozen (and yes, they are cheaper by the dozen - love to say that
Then other names to possibly be found at both the art or craft stores:
Sansodor by Windsor Newton
Gamlin Gamsol
Mona Lisa Artist Odorless Paint Thinner by Houston Arts (if you read the label it supposedly says 100% odorless mineral spirits).
