CAS (Clean and Simple) Favorites for Week Ending 12/30/17
I hope that everybody had a happy holiday in the past few weeks, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa. Here in the Chicago area, we had a white Christmas and are now gearing up for a decidedly cold start to the new year. Seems to me that staying inside and enjoying some crafty time will be a lot more enjoyable than being outside watching a ball or anything else drop. But I digress....
This is the thread where we share our Clean and Simple (CAS) favorites from the past week - in this case, December 24 - December 30. If you have favorites that are not CAS, be sure to share them on the regular Favorites thread.
We also want you to know that the CAS FAVORITES OF THE YEAR thread is coming up on Monday! We encourage you to join in the fun there as well. We will post each and every one of your favorites on a Pinterest Board for the year.
With all that out of the way, here are my CAS favorites from this past week. I hope you'll take a few minutes and add your CAS favorites to the thread as well. Beautiful Season by muscrat I love this sparkly CAS beauty - the oval focal panel and the dry embossed BG add so much visual interest, while keeping the design uncluttered and CAS.
CCC18Jan2 by Jay_Bee Janine's bright background adds great visual punch while her design keeps things clean and simple.
Sponged Sunset by Loll Thompson Loll always has such a great eye for CAS design, using the perfect balance between color and white space.
Wish Big by Biggan Incorporating an unexpected element, such as Birgit's patchworked elephant, into a CAS design allows for an uncluttered but visually rich card.
On My Mind and In My Heart by die cut diva The stamped flowers extending beyond the tag edges opens up the design and the thin yellow border from the card base pulls everything together on this feminine CAS beauty.
Two for One Card - JOY by Whimsey Michele's asymmetric design and ombre paint strokes give the eye so much to enjoy without complicating the design.
Rosie the Reindeer by GailNM Gail's reindeer could not be any more cute - and the fact that the outline of her face is suggested, not actually drawn in really adds to the CAS appeal of the design.
Happy Birthday by Ardyth Ardyth's color rich cupcake really pops set against the neutral background colors and classic layout.
Now that I've shared my CAS favorites, it's your turn - which ones caught your interest this week?
This thread is open to everyone and is a great way to recognize the work of SCS's many talented CAS artists.
There are really only two "rules" here on the thread:
The Gallery posts you link to should be in the CAS style...
-------------------------------- And what does it mean to be Clean and Simple?
It's all about the design.
* Uncluttered
* lots of white or open space
* one main focal point --------------------------------
...and they should be from the past week.
Did you find your way to this thread because someone listed one of YOUR creations as a favorite? In addition to saying thank you, we encourage you to pay that smile you're probably wearing right now forward by sharing a few of the cards/projects YOU favorite-ed this week.
If this is your first time being mentioned in this thread or you have a new blog we have blog badges found here in this post.
Need help linking your Favorites? Follow these steps:
1. Load this week's Favorites thread in your first browser tab. Scroll down and click the Go Advanced button.
2. Open a second tab (or a separate window). Go to the Gallery and click on "My Favorites."
3. Click on a card you have saved. At the top, highlight the web address. Hit Ctrl+C to copy.
4. Switch back to the first tab. Type the cardmaker's SCS name, add a couple of spaces and hit Ctrl+V to paste your link there. Hit Enter twice to add a blank line.
5. Repeat as many times as needed for all your links.
6. Click the Preview Post button and check that your links work. Then click the Submit Reply button.
