Challenge Title: Hard Candy Christmas Hostess: stamp_momma (Lori) Keyword:FF16stampmommaB Date:Saturday, October 22
When I was a little girl and until a few years ago, my grandma made these amazing homemade Christmas candy trays for us every single year. My brother's favorite candy on the tray was a homemade peanut butter ball (which I now make for him each year), but mine was always a candy "strawberry" that my grandma had made for me since I was a little girl. She originally got the recipe (below) from a co-worker at Montgomery (Monkey :p) Wards back in the 70s when she was a key-punch operator. We've always called them BettyReece's Strawberries and to me, they are a special part of Christmas. I miss my grandma's Christmas candy trays... it's always a Hard-Candy Christmases now ... with sweet, sweet memories.
My challenge is to create a card with the word prompt: Hard Candy Christmas. This could be image, color, embellishment. The choice is yours, I played off of the color of my favorite Christmas candy....
BettyReece's Strawberry Candy
2 small packages of strawberry jello pinch of salt 3/4 cup Eagle Brand milk (sweetened condensed) 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans) 1 cup shredded coconut
Mix all ingredients and roll into bite-size balls. Pinch at one end to form a strawberry shape and roll in red decorator sugar. Place on wax paper to harden. Enjoy!

Your Grandmother's "candy tray" sounds fabulous. Thanks for the recipe too...very thoughtful of you. Loved your sweet challenge since I have a big sweet tooth. : )
Thank you for sharing your memories of your Grandmother and her amazing candy! I remember childhood Christmases with sweet memories, too! I went for an old fashioned Christmas scene, with a simply decorated tree, vintage style dps, and 3 candy canes. 1 is upper left next to a sugary gingerbread house, and 2 frosted candy canes are attached to my candy cane baker's twine. Christmas candy...yum! My mom always made divinity at Christmas and something we called "brown" candy...I think that was the actual name of the recipe but it had some aunt's name associated with it, too ;) All I know is that it was amazing!
Little did I know when I picked up this cute 3-D sticker to make a quick "cheater" Christmas card that I'd get home and find out that it was perfect for this challenge. LOVE when these things happen. TFL!
What a great challenge. I too remember my aunt making a hard candy but it was cinnamon. I must dig out that recipe. Thank you for providing the recipe. I am going to try it.
So my card had to be red and white. Here is my card.

I knew exactly what stamp I was going to use as soon as I saw this challenge. When I first got it, it made me think of the old fashioned ribbon candy. I hope you like my card!
