Several months ago, the ladies from church and I went on the yearly Ladies' Retreat to renew our faith and love in our Spiritual Father. While we were there, all twelve of us decided we needed to begin doing more for our church family.
We discussed women face the world with a preconceived notion that we are the weaker link. In the Bible it tells us of so many people who were able to bring others to Christ. We began discussing all of the women that we could think of who did just that. Many were discussed; however, these were who I can recall for now: Dorcas (Tabitha), Sarai (Sarah), Deborah, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jesus, Dorothy, and Ruth.
We decided that in order to bring others to Christ we would have to require more of ourselves as Christian women. We would have to find our own way to evangelize. We thought about making cards to encourage those who seem to get lost through the week and forget about services, those who become ill, lose a loved one, or simply need a little boost to say we are thinking of them.
After going home and really working hard on this, we have actually helped our small, rural congregation grow from around 30 people to almost 45. We believe that we can not stop this at any point in the future, butalong with cards we will begin making scripture bookmarks with the service times placed on the back using small sticker. OUr goal is to send out 100 of these by the end of this year. IF you ahve a goal similiar to this, pelase feel free to share.
As a SCS member and a sister in Christ, I encourage all of you on here to make bookmarks/cards like our ladies are doing. Hopefully, you will see a difference in where you worship. Best wishes!
In Christian Love,
Sunshine

I do agree with your suggestions. I have been doing bookmarks and lil gifts for our yearly Women's retreat and it's really amazing to know how the Lord speaks to each and every one of them.
These bookmarks are given after prayer ministry and each of the sisters pick their own card.
*hugs* blessings!;)
I made this bookmark card for the HOPE2010 challenge last week. I love to make bookmarks and regularly make them to give to my children's teachers, both at school and at church. Not sure who this one will go to, but am thinking I may group a bunch of cards together to sell when the church has their big silent auction baskets this fall. Click here for the link. Jean

This is a beautiful ministry. Could you share some of your templates and examples. I would like to do something like this.
Thank you for the great idea!! I also have some children christian stamps that I bought from Stampin' Up!! And kids ARE little sponges of the GOSPEL! But we are to be the light even to those who are "not sure" of which way they are going because that way they will see CHRIST in us! G-D Bless~ Cheri ;-)

this needs to be revived again for anyone else who may be interested in
fund raisers or church participation evenings. My sister makes magnetic
bookmarkers that flip over the page. and don't fall off, from greeting cards,
(greeting cards receieved). How economical is that.
If there is something on the card that is unique, probably no wider then
2 inches by 4 inches; cut out that section of the card desired, adhere to
cordinating cardstock on back of cut out design, cardstock needs to be twice as long
as design cut out; to fold in half and over the page; adhere magnetic strips inside
bottom of page marker. You can use these great little gems for the side of the
page to line up with the line you left off on, or at the top of the book page to line
up the page you left off. I never use any other bookmarkers anymore, because they
don't fall out of book.
