Inks & paints can bleed through but when I know I am using something that will bleed, I slip a piece of waxed paper underneath and it protects the rest of the pages. I tell my class that we have 1066 pages in our Bibles, if we end up doing just half of the pages we will have over 500 verses as works of art. A little bleed through is okay! :-)
I think I am going to do what I believe Julie is doing. I am going to put the Book of Revelation (which I will be studying this coming "School Year") from my Bible Software into a Word Document with Wide Margins. I will print the file on Printer Paper and put the pages in a 3-Ring Binder, but also save the file, so that when I come across a page I want to journal on with stamps and/or ink, I can then print that page on White Cardstock. I will continue to do that as I continue to study different books of the Bible. :-) LM
This is wonderful! Did you do this in an actual Bible? If so, what inks did you use that did not bleed through? And who is the Publisher of this Bible with such wide margins?
I will be studying/leading Revelation with BSF this Fall. I would love to do this for the book of Revelation as I study it.
Blessings,
LM :-)
I went to BSF for a couple of years before we begin traveling so much. Do you teach the all the classes in the big session? or a leader in a smaller group?
I would go for revelations this yearl, but I know they don't like you to miss much.
Sharon...I am a Group Discussion Leader, not the Teaching Leader. :-)

i have printed off Artsy Faith lessons 1, 2, 3. Thank you!
Wasn't there a print off some where for the lettering besides these lessons? Someone mentioned? Or I have seen it somewhere else.
I am still trying to descide if I will just adapt it to some Bible I already have and not buy a new one, or just uswe a journal.
I have done most of my 40+ verses with very few supplies. I use a pencil, ruler, a soap eraser, 2 micron pens, crayola colored pencils, and crayola watercolor paints. Inexpensive... should be about $13 total.
Thank you everyone who has so generously shared their pictures of what they have done. I plan to start in September when I begin my Bible Study of Revelation. :-) LM
That looks wonderful. I am curious, what kind of Bible did you use and did the inks bleed through? LM :-)
I'm using a king James version with very thin pages and yes it does bleed through. I put a piece of paper under it when I'm working so it only bleeds through the back of the page I'm working on.
I did this page Sunday... I am inconsistent in journaling except that I do journal when I'm feeling something so deeply that I can't express it except through art. We had some dear friends in Indonesia that experienced a painful loss last week, and really wanted to be with them... so this page is a reminder that God is good, even when the situation is bleak and the answer is no.
Kathy, I agree with Joan- do not be too hard on yourself...we are all learning and your handwriting is unique to you and that is what will make your art special to those you know and love you :-) Love the colors and the artwork on your page- great job, my friend and I will see you in the DTGD gallery!!
My local class met this week and I spent about 8 hours on the handout so I only finished one verse this week Colossians 3:2
I did share some of the verses created from the class on my blog. They shared the first verses they finished.
I am loving seeing all of the verses on this thread! Be encouraged and enjoy the process and thank you for sharing!!!
Joan, another fantastic page, my friend!! Love the colors, the artwork and your lettering!! I have been busy with DTGD samples and need to get busy with what is more important- God's Word!! Thanks again for your inspiration to all of us and your faithfulness :-) Hugs and God Bless!
Hi Everyone! I had a chance to play around late this evening (well early am now) and decided to use a devotional Bible versus the notebook idea...I did use clear Gesso on the page first and hand-drew / hand lettered the rest...still pretty rough but I did learn a few things and linked the gallery post to my blog :-) Praying all of you are having a great week and I know many of you are playing along with us in the DTGD15 Challenges- hugs and God Bless!!
What a fabulous idea!!! ... I never heard of Bible Art Journalling but when I read it in the newsletter I received in my email and checked into it more I KNEW I wanted to try it. I have a king james version bible that I never use that was the first bible I bought. I am enjoying making use of this bible rather than having it sit on a shelf collecting dust. I discovered Rebekah Jones has a weekly bible challenge that are very informative and interesting. I haven't been able to find the SCS bible challenges, are they up and running? Could someone provide a link please? ... Thanks SOOOO MUCH for starting this and introducing me to a wonderful way to meditate and spend time with the Lord <3

Hi Cynthia! Love the idea of using this KJV Bible- I have a few of those on the shelf as well :-)
We are just getting started as a challenge thread- some of the participants have been journaling for a while where others (like myself) just heard about this form of Bible Study/Art and are starting out as you are- brand new :-)
At this point, we are sharing as we go in the gallery- posting to Anything BUT a Card, next drop down to Books, Handmade Albums and Journals next drop down to Art Journal Pages and then a 4th drop down will appear and Bible Art Journal Pages :-)
My thoughts would be a monthly challenge (maybe start in September) with either a specific theme (such as Grace, Faith, etc.) and then we can choose our own verses to reflect upon or we could do a technique challenge (watercolor, pen and ink, etc.) - I will need input from everyone on how they would like to see the challenges ...there are quite a few Bible Art Journaling challenges at this time that have monthly themes as well, so we may just want to keep it as an open forum to just share each month...
Input from anyone regarding how they would like to proceed is welcome :-)

Thanks for the reply Julie ... here are my 2 cents ... I liked your idea of a challenge on doing a theme OR maybe even a verse challenge in the bible (THAT would be super interesting to see how everyone creates art on a specific verse differently). I would rather have a challenge then just an open forum. There is already a challenge being done by Rebekah Jones on different techniques so I think a different type of challenge would be nice.
You mentioned that there are already bible art themed challenges ... I haven't come across those, do you have a website or two that you would recommend?
Thanks!
