I LOVE the digi stamps, but I can't seem to color them in without them smearing. I don't use copics/markers... just don't have them (nor do I really want them). So, I'm wondering if any one has had success with colored pencils (esp. Water Color pencils) and digis?

To color digi's I use a set of Sharpie markers I got at BJ's. No smearing when you use these. Of course blending doesn't work with these, but you can create a similar effect by using different colors in the same area of the image. I also found that if you heat set a digi that was printed on an inkjet printer (heat gun, not hair dryer) you can use some blending pencils (like Martha Stuarts). It takes a while to heat set it though. Also found that if you have acess to a laser printer - there is no problem using Copics or any water blendable marker or pencils. Take your (Ink Jet) printed page to a Kinko's or Staples and have them print (using laser printer) a bunch of pages for you. Then you can blend to your heart's content.
Hope this helps.

If you want to watercolour you could use a workable fixative and spray your image beforehand. This is what I use if I want to water colour/paint a digi stamped imaged. You can get the spray fixative at any art supply store and Michaels may have them in the art supply section (that's where I got mine).
I print my digis off onto Neenah Super Smooth cardstock and when I color with my prismas/gamsol I get absolutely NO smearing! What kind of paper are you using? Some papers just don't accept the printer ink very well and it doesn't dry all the way, and you get smearing. I am a huge fan of Neenah for all types of coloring!
Wow... I don't know anything about workable fixatives. Do you have a name or brand I could look at?
Amber, what is Neenah Super Smooth Cardstock? Where do you get it?
Thanks for all your help ladies!
I bought my fixative at Michaels (with a coupon of course) in the art supply section. The one I have is Prismacolor brand.
Neenah papers are a high quality paper/cardstock. There are a couple places that sell them (I don't know off hand since I don't buy it from the states), or you can order it directly from the Neenah website. Another brand you may want to see if you can get locally that is just as good as Neenah is Domtar Cougar smooth cardstock in 80# or 110#. I've been using this for a couple months in the 130# (ran out of Neenah) and it is great (also less expensive).
Have you thought about printing them off in grey? So that - when its printed - you could colour the image as you would normally - water pencils etc and then when you are finished you could go over the edges with a fine sharpie.
Just a thought.
