I vote to us SU only--to many other good ones out there--since scs started out as a SU place, I think it should stay that way--keeps it clear and more helpful for new demonstrators to look and learn online.
I agree with the majority to stick with SU. The mind boggles about what a can of worms could be opened up if other papers were used. The options would be almost endless. Most people can access SU cardstock but others might be more of a challenge to access. Thanks Emily for your work with all the colour challenges and this poll.

Okay, here are my feelings..I voted for ANY company. At one time, I think that this site was very SU geared - but if you ask HRR Julie her royal rubberness, this site now accomadates many many companies. This is not an SU site.
That said, for sake of ease, just stick to using SU colours for examples - and let people sub in with other close colours. I find SU paper to be terribley expensive in Canada- and I have just barely begun to use SU products.
I have a LSS that carries a gazzillion bazzil colours -and they are sooo much less expensive then those SU for me. You should see SU prices in Canada, even though our dollar is close to par. So, personally - I would say use any paper but try to get it close to the SU colour.
As for the poster who suggested that those who dont' have SU papers have 6 other challenges - yes that is true.. but that said, I think most challenges - such as Ways to Use, TLC etc bend over backwards to accomadate people - so I would suggest that we try to be inclusive here!!
Just my humble opinion. And by the way, I now have all of the SU colours - and many Bazzill's match perfectly..

What a great place where we can all be heard and express our opinions with respect for each other.

Reason: an accidental double post
I voted to stay with Stampin Up. This is really is the only challenge geared toward the original beginning of this site. It seems to be, from my daily gallery viewing, what most people are using. You've always allowed substitutions so I can see people continuing to make the substitutions that works for them.
I use stamps from other companies, but I stick with SU cardstock. The DP, ribbon, and other embellishments match. It's the biggest selling point for SU. Please allow this last part of SU to stay.
Many of the Member companies have their own challenges. I think that is great! If PTI ever becomes a member company, then I think a new color challenge with PTI colors would be perfect in their forum.
I voted for any company.. I think that while this began as an SU site, as Julie Ebersole has pointed out in some post I read long ago - this is now a many company website - just look at our sponser companies , for example.
I find SU coloured paper prices here in Canada to be very high!!! - even though our dollar is on par or close to it - we pay far more for SU stuff. That said, I now have all of the SU papers, so I can either use them , or a match from bazzill . For me , I have a LSS that carries a gazzillion bazzill colours - and you would be amazed at the perfect or close matches that you can find for 75 cents for a 12 by 12 sheet of paper - much less than SU in Canada - and I can buy 1 piece or 20 pieces - which is nice.
One poster suggested that since there are 6 other challenges a week - those that don't have SU colours have other challenges and should just give a miss to the CC . I disagree.. We have people who play from England, Sweden, Australia - places that don't have SU , or just barely have it as a new company. The other thing is that while , yes, there are other challenges each week, most other challenges bend over backwards to accomadate players - for example - Ways to Use It, Technique Lovers Challenge etc..
Let's keep the CC as inclusive as we can.. this is just for fun - not a deadly serious thing!!!
I am for keeping the SU colors as a guide and allowing for substitutes. I don't have any SU! cardstock *GASP* because I have a big stash of other papers from scrapping, and I have never felt excluded from the challenge. I've always been able to find a good substitute to stay in the spirit of the challenge.

I think sticking with the SU colors just so everyone knows what we're talking about - but there's no reason someone can't sub another company's CS in a similar color if they prefer that. I used to do that all the time when I didn't have many SU colors.
There are so many good comments already but I'll just cast in my vote----keep it SU please. Love the challenges and I always substitute if I haven't got exactly what the challenge calls for. Thanks.
this runs along the same lines as uploading cards to the gallery... We upload under stampin up stamp sets... can you image if they had to list all the stamp companies and stamp names.. NO WAY!!!
Actually, I'd like to see a gallery for other companies. Maybe not listing every stamp or set, but at least a gallery for their images. Sometimes when I use company "A"'s image but use a Stampin Up sentiment, I have to put it in the sentiment gallery (I had a card moved by a moderator once, so now I just do it ;) ) Do we have to have galleries for sentiment sets? Does anyone ever look through them?

Reason: spelling
I vote to stay with SU even though I'm not a demo and don't even have all the colors all the time... but I do think we all know at least WHAT the SU! colors are and can come close to them. If we change to various brands we will not know what they are or how to duplicte / come close to them. JMHO

Well, though I said any company, yes, just keep SU colours as a guide. People can sub in with any company, as is already done - would get very confusing otherwise!!
And looking at Lauriloo's avitar, she loves paper!
SU is my mainstay. I have every color. Seriously, how could anyone get along without kraft!? Before I had all the colors (building up the inventory is a serious investment) I would sometimes make a certain color by printing the RedGreenBlue version onto white cardstock. It's actually pretty easy, but really gulps printer ink. By the way Kraft is approx. 129,103,62
I vote for staying with SU colors as a standard. Maybe we need a color chart
chart somewhere in this thread so people can see approximately what a color looks like. Then they can substitute something they have that is close. JMHO

Please keep it all SU! SU does have a complete spectrum, and it sets a wonderful standard to substitute if needed or desired, and can be used to match with for those who want/need to substitute.
In regards to SU cardstock, there is a terrific tool to help you compare, match or coordinate your colors at:
I don't play, often but I know SU! colors - however, that being said I have no problem what so ever with encouraging folks to use any color from any company that is compatible with the suggestion.
I prefer SU colors, it's what I have, however, if you were to go with other company colors, possibly list with alternative SU color that closely matches. Thanks for your consideration!
I voted for SU - as Jem suggested (who is Canada), we can't always get access to the same cardstock companies that you can in the States (we're in Australia). And, OMG - sorry to suggest this Emily - is there any way you could suggest possible substitutions for other company's colours so others can play? Or is there a list somewhere of comparative colours from other companies - I thought I saw that on here once. Maybe if you posted that as a STICKY at the top of the thread and anyone using non SU c/stock could still play?????? Just a suggestion!!!!!!

Honestly - I don 'tknow any other companies cardstock colors. I use SU pretty much exclusively. I have 2 of the papertrey colors. But that's it.
If someone who uses CTMH or TAC wanted to make such a list - that's cool with me!
If non-SU colors are given in a challenge, perhaps a SU substitution would be permitted? I know that currently, people are able to coordinate BasicGray, Bazzill, Papertrey, etc into their cards.
I voted keeping it SU, however I think allowing substitution for another company is fine, as long as the colors are close.
And that is exactly how it is now. I'm fine with substitutions from other companies. It's just a guideline to help you use a combo you might not reach for.
When I can participate in this challange, I use the SU colors as a guideline. I don't have much SU paper, so I improvise. It's still fun to do the challanges.
