Description of Organization: It is a charity organization that aims to spread hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids through uplifting, handmade cards. CFHK distributes “general” cards monthly as well as holiday cards on all major holidays to hospitals across the country. Using guidelines on the CFHK website, individuals and groups make handmade cards and send them to CFHK for distribution in hospitals.
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: Given the cards are going to sick children, there are several restrictions. For one, ask that you don't write "get well soon" because some of our card-receiving patients have chronic and/or terminal medical conditions. We prefer uplifting cards that don't focus on the child's illness. Please don't use excessive glitter or other craft products that could rub off the card or fall off. Please see the CFHK website for full guidelines on making cards.
GUIDELINES: Please keep in mind, we are representing SCS by sending our cards each month. Recycling is always good, but only use products on your cards that you would like to receive on cards. Also, our card donations are not tax deductible and it is not required. Please do not ask for a receipt. There have been groups that will send thank you's but the "referred by" person keeps us informed and passes on the thank you's. Most of these organizations are volunteers and spend countless hours helping others, lets help make their jobs easier and bless them in helping others.
MAILING ADDRESS: Cards for Hospitalized Kids 7290 W. Devon Chicago, IL 60631
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by the color/mood board, see first post below. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! To see this gallery C4AC click here. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Another exciting announcement, we now have a badge for you to proudly display on your blog; here is the link. Sticky:Cards For A Cause Blog Badge
Also, we have a section now for on going Cards For A Cause, these are organizations that take cards all year. If after your monthly generous giving you have others, go here..thank you so much for all you do!
Fellow SCSer's, thank you for spreading your SCS love! Please feel free to mail your cards all throughout the month of June!
Once you have mailed them come back to us here

Yay! This "cause" is so exciting to me because I just saw a YouTube video where the crafter was making cards specifically for it. She talked a lot about it and I got very interested! Can't wait to get started.
Hi All!
Unfortunately making children's cards are not my forte, so to speak, but I seem to do okay with tweens or older teenager cards, so that's what mine are. I'm sending 25 off today! Sweet!
Have a great rest of your week (and Mother's Day, if it applies)! :p
Hugs,
Maggie

Thanks, Teresa! I've been working on a batch for the past few days. Great cause and I am happy to participate. Will try to get a pic of the whole lot together before I send them out.Joanne

Ima try to get card over for the kids!!! I've been dealing with my dad taking a turn and having been moved to Hospice Wednesday, and Mom having to be moved to a "Memory Care" facility, since dad's not there any more to care for her.
Is it safe to assume it'll be OK if my contribution is a little late?

Please take a moment to go back to the April board and read the special thank you message that Betsy Gaona (Ronald McDonald Houses of North Carolina) asked me to post.
Teresa - Can you please make this an on-going cause? Thanks.

I mailed out ten cards yesterday. It was fun to make them. Here are pictures of a couple of them (if I did it correctly; I haven't included pix in a post before.)

How do I make the pix thumbnails instead of large size?

hey susie, thank you so much for sending cards! I am not sure how to make a picture small, I click on the paper clip and then choose file, and upload. Ity could be because your picture needs to be resized. I size make picture at 600 pixels in width. hope this helps.

I sent mine in a bit ago, I love having these "missions" available, for some reason it's very enjoyable for me to know what kinds of cards are needed for the different groups. :-D

Following is a thank you I received from Ronald McDonald House of Durham, NC. (April's cause) It is for all of you:
Dear Friends of RMH,
Thank you for the BEAUTIFUL, handmade cards you donated to Ronald McDonald House of Durham. We are sharing the cards with the 55 families currently staying at the House with their children who are fighting big battles.
Thank you, again, for your extra-special kindness!
