Thank you cards, Birthday cards, and cards of Encouragement. Blank cards with no sentiment cards would work here too. Think children and teens! If you can provide envelopes with your cards I am sure it would be very convenient for the recipient but its not a requirement!

A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION::
Charlene's church is involved with Places of Hope (Stuart Florida Campus) which is a State licensed organization which provides support and housing for kids for adoption. The chilldren housed on this campus range in age from 8 to teens, boys and girls. The campus has several different homes. Kellie Pilot, who is the pastor's wife has volunteered to receive and deliver our cards to the homes where the children are housed. Kellie is very excited and believes the cards will be a wonderful way for the house parents to show more support to the kids with messages of encouragement, birthday wishes and thank yous, etc.
Here is a link to Places of Hope for more information! And here is a little note from Charlene (cookiebaker) regarding this months recipient:
Thanks Cindy for choosing Places of Hope as our first Mission. They will be so thrilled. If anyone wants to hear exactly what Places of Hope does and the impact it makes on the lives of the children and young adults placed in their care, please go HERE.
Scroll to December 19th. You will need your tissues.
Love to you all for giving of your hearts and your talents to brighten the lives of these young children.
Thank you everyone! Thank you for providing cards to the kids at Places of Hope and for spreading your SCS love! Please feel free to mail your cards all throughout the month of January!

Do me a favor please?
I have started a poll as a way of counting the cards mailed to the recipient this month. Please let us know how many you mailed by participating in this month's Let's Count the Cards poll. Click here to record your participation! We will see if this works! Yikes!
Thank YOU for making a difference with your stamping!!
Subbing...one of my "crafting" goals this year is to join swaps where I can donate all my cards rather than receive back...and to be involved with Cards For A Cause every month!
Happy New Year, everyone! May 2011 be healthy and joyful!
Hey Jen! What a wonderful new *crafting* goal! Warms my heart! We will be here! And it will be so fun to *see* you once a month! Whoo hoo!
Hi Denise! I am tickled you are *all over* this! You are da man! Well, you know what I mean! Your cards will be such a great *gift* to the recipients here!
Since the two of you viewed this thread I edited/added some more information about Counting the Cards each month. Just so you know!
Alright...lets see how many I can get here. I'm in for the month. Do we have a date that they have to be mailed in by?? Or can I just send as I'm finished with each card....or I just may send in a bunch...

Hello there! Nope, there is not a special date...you can just mail all throughout the entire month. If you think you would save on postage by sending them all at once, that is fine...or if you want to you can send each one as you go.......
Thanks so much for participating! I appreciate it and the fact that you are doing more than one! Whoo hoo!
what a great organization. It has to be so hard for older kiddos to be in that situation. will stretch the braincells and come up with some youth appropriate cards. I don't do many of them....but will get a few done to send...

I want to participate too....I will do all I can!
Do we need to have them mailed by a certain date for this month to insure they get there by the end of the month? (if I missed that, sorry, there is a lot of info here, very organized I might add *grin*)
I luv this challenge, I will make every effort to get some out....I send out cards to people in our church and community so there may be times when I can't do as much.....the need is so big, I wish I had more time.
thanks so much Cindy!

Hi Sheri, Pam, Lisa and Theresa! Ooh...thanks so much for taking part! Pam, to answer your questions, you are not required to upload them. You can simply mail them out when its convenient for you. If you do upload them though, feel free to come her and post a link to them as I know everyone would love to take a peek!
Theresa.....no worries girlfriend! There is not a specific date. I think in the past there may have been as the challenge hostess received all of the cards herself and then mailed them out in one big package.....but since we are mailing ours directly to the recipeint, there really is not a deadline. Just within the month of January. Most of the recipients will be using the cards on an on-going basis so spreading them out is almost a good thing! Oh, and don't worry about when you can't participate.....we love when you can but understand when you can't.....Its a wonderful thing that you are involved in your own church and community!!!
Thanks to everyone...I agree with Pam, its a good thing that a hobby can give to a community or two or 12 in 2011! Snort!
You got it Lela! And no, you don't sign the cards! They will use them as they need to and most likely it their staff members that will be signing the cards so it will be best to leave them blank inside. Thanks so much!
Hi Teresa! Yes, absolutely! I think, why not? Most people that get them would probably realize they are donated cards....besides here is my thought!
SCSer's cards are so awesome that someone getting them might want to BUY some and if a staff member at the organization was asked.....did you make this and can I buy some?....they would probably appreciate it us putting made by on the back!!! Snort! Ha! Ha!
On a serious note, I think its a great thing to sign the back (card made by), its like the signature an artist puts on their painting...I think its great to *sign* our works of art! Personal opinion of course!

Thx for the mission Cindy and Charlene
Thanks so much! They have another place called Villages of Hope for kids who age out of the foster care system where they can stay until they're 23, I believe. They will be so blessed by whatever you send!!
I'm in! My dd and I will send cards out y the end of the month. We need to make some thank you cards and will make some extra to send also.
I want to make sure we do this right, I haven't participated before. Just send cards that the staff can give to the kids. So, these should be blank that they can write in?

Ooh! Thanks so much! That is absolutely correct...just send them with blank insides and then the staff can use them as they see fit in their day to day operations. How nice of you and your daughter! Thanks so much!!
How nice! I'm definitely going to make time to participate even if it is only a few cards. I learned a long time ago when working with a food drive that when many people contribute just one or two, the amount collected is incredible. Thanks!
This is new to me. I support our local cards for a cause that sells our cards in three clinics and the proceeds go to Cancer research at a local medical center. So........I will gladly send cards to this. I just have to figure out some cards for this age group - one I do not normally think about.
Thanks for all you do for us. Rita
Oh my golly!!!! I'm new to this forum and kept waiting for info to show up on the original thread where I subbed and was chatting!!!! Sheeesh!!!! Color me embarassed and please somebody smack me!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for the mission! I'll get on it right away!!
Today I made a total of eight cards for this. When I am completely done, I will take a picture and post that also. TFL It is always a good feeling when you can do something like this. Rita
I'll be shipping 9 cards off tomorrow. I did mostly birthday...I had several neices/nephews with birthdays this month so I made some extras.
Looking ahead to next month, does anyone have any good ideas for using my Stampin Up Delightful Dogs set? I could use some inspiration. Or I'd be happy to stamp some images for you to play with. Just drop me a PM and let me know what you want.
Having fun with this so far and I'm looking forward to creating some more cards!
