ORGANIZATION BEING FEATURED: Covenant House Alaska
DESCRIPTION: The vision of Covenant House Alaska is to make the experience of youth homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. Youth experiencing homelessness have rights. The right to a home. The right to food. The right to guidance. The right to an education. The right to be free from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse. The right to be free from exploitation. Youth experiencing homelessness have the right to be safe, and most importantly, to be loved.
TYPE OF CARDS REQUESTED: Thank You, Birthday, Anniversary (celebrating years of service for volunteers and staff), and blank note cards.
SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: Christian themes are welcome but not necessary.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: They prefer for the cards to be unsigned so they can personalize them as needed. Envelopes would really be helpful if possible.

I am trying to find new organizations each month, but when Holly, the volunteer manager at Covenant House reached out to me, I felt like this would be a good organization to repeat. Plus the other organizations I contacted did not get back to me yet.
Holly said they LOVED having the beautiful cards everyone sent last year. They have been putting the cards they received to good use and said they would be grateful to receive more.
I'm glad for this repeat. I think the org is great and it's heartwarming to know how much they appreciate everyone's work to send them handmade cards. Working on a small batch of thank-you and birthday cards.
Thanks for trying to find new orgs Kerry. That isn't an easy job.
I'm in for Feb. Also... what do they mean by "Bank Note Cards"? Cards to put gift cards / money in?

Hello: I am not able to participate this month in Cards for a Cause as I am just getting out of the hospital after shoulder replacement surgery. I'll be in a sling until May of this year. I'll get back to you as soon as I am able to resume card making. Sarge

Oh Sarge, OUCH! Take care of yourself. Prayers for your quick healing. Hugs.

I'm so sorry you won't be able to craft for a while. I hope your physical therapy will go well. I only had a small procedure done on my shoulder (back in 2018 ) but I really appreciated the therapists who helped me get back to 100%.

Good luck with your recovery Sarge, and we hope you are feeling back to yourself soon!

You’ve been a regular contributor to Cards for a Cause, so don’t worry about taking some needed time for yourself. My husband had both shoulders replaced, so I am empathetic to your recovery process. Best wishes to you!!

My package of cards was returned to me today. I checked and had used the address listed above. The sticker on the package says that it was unclaimed and unable to forward. So I clicked on the website link above, and that gave a different address. Did anyone else have a package returned? I know that I’ve sent to them other years with no problem.
I also sent to the Covenant House. I mailed my package out on 02/28/23, and it hasn't come back (yet!). I did check the thread above, and it looks like you mailed your package on 03/06/23. I don't know if that helps at all, but if the post office holds unclaimed packages for a consistent amount of time, I would guess mine would have come back shortly before yours did. I am not 100% sure, but I thought someone in the group had an affiliation with Covenant House and hopefully they can check in with an update.

Becca, thanks for the feedback. I ended up calling and spoke with Holly Payne. She confirmed that the address was correct and said that she’s received other packages at that address. So she thought it was just a fluke that it happened but did give me another address that I could use to resend.
