Hi Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read this post! I am very excited to get started with this month's mission. This month will be the Operation Write Home, formally Card for Heros. They support our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them. For more information, please visit their website at:
I think it would really help boost their moral to know that a complete stranger thought about them and made them a card just for encouragement and thoughtfulness. I hope that you will join me in this important cause.
Please note, they can not have cards with glitter on them as it will possibly have them detected at night. Anything that you can do to help and encourage would be much appreciated. Some ideas for the cards would be: Hello, Hi, Thinking of you, Thank you, Thinking of You, Warm Wishes, Let Your Light Shine, Smile, Youre my hero, Thank you for your Service, and Happy Birthday. This mission is a bit different as you can write in them if you would like to send them a personal message or leave them blank inside so they can send them home to a loved one. Please try and send an envelope along with your card, if possible.
I'll be sure and update how many cards we have donated. Feel free to post a link to the cards that you have made so we can all see your work! :0)
Please have your cards to me no later than May 31st.
Send them to this address:
Card for a Cause #18
5316 25th Ave NW
Gig Harbor, WA 98335
Please do not hesitate to ask questions. Thank you in advance to all that can participate! I know they will appreciate them dearly. :0) Julie.
It is great to see more people involved with Operation Write Home. I am getting ready to send 339 cards to them this week. My latest event was a "home" party where we all made cards and some of us demonstrated creative ideas. I already have another "home" party scheduled for July. It is a wonderful way to show our support for the troops.
I may not have much time to make many, but want to contribute & send some heartfelt wishes your way. Thanks for this month's inspiration! I'm sending this your way soon!

I have a box ready to go to Sandy and have about 1/2 my Christmas cards finished - shooting for 500 winter holiday cards this year. It is so good to see so many people are involved or getting involved.
Hi everyone! Wanted to share with all of you that Operation Write Home is having a HUGE bloghop on Memorial Day Weekend! It starts around 10 am EST on the OWH Stars and Stamps blog, here is the link. There are 150+ crafters in the bloghop with lots of tutorials, blog candy and freebies. Hope you have time to check it out!
I couldn't believe when I just read this and was all antsy to get started...right until I realized that the deadline has already passed! I would LOVE to do this if you might consider maybe doing a second installment - my husband is in the military and I've written letters & cards to soldiers in combat zones through different organizations in the past. It's such a great opportunity to encourage and support them! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do another set of this challenge!!
Hi Chrissy-Unfortunately I can not do another repeat of this organization at this time since I usually work 2-3 months out and have organizations patiently waiting for their turn. I do apologize that I am not able to continue with this important mission for another month. That being said, I would love to have you make them and send them either to me(they are 30 minutes away and I am volunteering to make cards with them at a local church on the 26th so I could bring them to them or you can mail them to them directly). Please let me know what works best for you and I can send you which ever address you would prefer. Sincerely, Julie. :0)
Just a quick note to let you know that I was on vacation and when I came back I had received lots of cards!!! Thank you so much to Katherine in MO, Champlin in TX and Shelton in Rhode Island. I am working on doing a video that I will post a link to later on this week. Thank you so very much!!! What a blessing you all are! XOXO, Julie. :0)
Hi Everyone! We had a great outpouring this month to Operation Write Home. Our total this month was 63 cards. I think this is am amazing organization that truly blesses our troups and thier families. Thanks for the reply! I totally understand, I was just so excited about the idea. I actually looked up the website and I'll probably just make some cards to send directly to them. I used to do some work with Soldier's Angels, which is something I want to pick up again too.
