I think this has been posted, but tonight when I went to WalMart the whole scrap section was gone! Found bits and pieces in the clearance section. Mainly MS stuff, including the dripping goo and branch punches that get so popular during the holidays at $7. I bought a big MS corner rounder. Sad to see WM discontinuing that section, just as they did their fabric. Maybe something better is coming.

I found the same thing a couple of days ago. In place of a portion of the papercrafting section gift wrap type ribbons were being displayed. I got several pkg's of the replacement blades for the MS Paper Trimmer at $2.50 each. It's confusing because last week all the paper pads were being replaced with ColorBok pads. I also read on one of the recent Cricut newsletters that they had a selection of cartridges made exclusively for Walmart.
You might look around the area. I thought mine was doing the same thing because the aisle was almost empty and there was some clearance, but they had downsized some and rearranged.
My Walmart has done away with all Martha Stewart stuff too. Downsized the isle and the new set labels are in place and waiting for the shipment of the new Cricut Lite Carts...The sales clerk said they are enroute and should be up by July 1st. I sure hope so...
When I was in the Walmart by me they had someone working on the aisle so I asked if they were getting rid of the scrapbooking aisle he told me no just making room for new stuff... Have not been back to see if they have stocked it yet...
I was in my Walmart yesterday and they were marking down a lot of the stuff--Martha Stewart stamps for $4 and lots of embellishments for $1. I asked if they were doing away with the scrapbooking section and she said no--just getting new stuff.
I work for Walmart and nothing's been said about discontinuing a crafting section of the store. We are in the middle of a remodel and we have the new Cricut cartridges. They are changing the name of the craft/fabric area from Fabrics and Crafts (and yes, fabric has been discontinued" to "Celebrations".
My brother is a store manager for a Wal-Mart. They are getting all new stuff for their SB aisle. Ours is now just 1/2 aisle with Cricut lite carts, Colorbox albums, black Cricut Expression, black Cricut Create, and a few "tools" by Elmer's including adhesive, paper trimmer, and a few Xyron. Most everything is now "exclusive" to WM...which is fine by me!! As a store owner, I'm not worried about the stuff that's exclusive to them. Most of it's cheaper...because it's *made* cheaper.
Our Walmart does have a craft department, but it is pom-poms, pipe stme cleaners , popsicle sticks, little wooden shapes, some felt, plastic beads and things for kids to do crafts. They have some yarn and crochet thread . The fabric is gone, but there is a small aisle of notions.
Our Scrapbook department is gone. No CS, DP packs , MS stuff, nothing but some adhesives, Fiskars trimmer blades , a couple of clearance albums and such . It takes up less than 1/2 aisle . The person I spoke with said that is all they will have in the future.
They also eliminated the cemetery decorations and the artificial flowers are down to about 12 sprigs.
In place of these things they now have some very cheap dinnete table and chair sets and some cheap livingroom chairs
I got some great deals on refill for my sticker maker machine. Always need those!
I keep going back to see if they dropped the price or put more on clearence.
I found a couple of Fiskars punches (Threading one for $5.00 CAD and a corner rounder for $3 CAD). We seem to have some new paper and stickers, but definitely smaller than it used to be ... I hope they are not getting rid of everything!
In what area are you finding the clearance? I think perhaps the store here locally must be sold out of any merchandise they clearanced.
My store just became a superstore so they had a large clearance section for a while. I found my punches on an end cap near the back of the store in the craft section. Hope that helps!
Our Wal-Mart had a ton of Cricut lite cartridges...very very very cute...I didn't even know these were coming out...and I call myself a scrapbooker...shameless. Our clearance section in our store is horrendous!!! And nothing is even remotely marked down to what I would call a bargain...the MS corner rounder was still $9 and it was pegged in the middle of car air fresheners...I will have to keep going back.
MS stamp sets had been marked down to $8 recently and yesterday they were marked down to $5. They will probably go down some more but I picked up a bird set and a leaves set that I can color with pencils or copics (or anything else for that matter). I thought $5 was a good deal for me.
I found cricut sports mania for $23 and MS doily punch for $7. Other than that, they got rid of a ton of stuff. It seems I always miss the good deals other than the above.
I have been watching all the stores in my area and the fabric section has disappeared and all the scrapbooking items are gone but the Cricut and some cartridges. I looked for clearance items but they marked them down 99 cents so an item that was 15.99 is 15 now. I don't call that a sale.
When the Walmart near me started remodeling I looked every time I went there for clearance items. Most of the nice things were only marked down 10%. I can do better than that with a Michael's coupon. I spoke to a clerk in that department and she said in the past few months as things sold they did not reorder them so there won't be much to put in the clearance aisle.:(
When they got to the major remodeling many of the shelves throughout the store were bare .
I stopped going there until they competed the remodeling, because I was coming home without half of the things on my shopping list
Good luck in finding any bargains to any of you whose WalMart has not yet remodeled .
My Walmart is doing the crazy remodel. Not much left of the craft section. They have the sewing stuff in the far back corner with very little left in it. I just found the "new" craft area. I did see some new embellies/gemstone type of things. No new Cricut carts yet. Speaking of Cricut, I just bought two Design Studios for $15. each. I was excited since I have been eyeballing this for two years now.
I have been wanting to try the Design Studio, and if my Walmart has it for that price
i am going to get it and try it. I haven't been at our store in a couple of weeks so
maybe i will get lucky.

My WalMart just did the remodeling thing too. This morning started their grand re-opening ceremony. They do have several new cricut carts coming, or at least spaces for them... some I haven't seen anywhere else and are really cute too... I'm hoping for an improved craft area myself! I'm sad the fabric department has left though. New line of embellishments that look interesting... we'll see...
Right place right time!!! Don't you just love it!!!
I have gotten so many bargains that way.
One time I was standing in the Swimsuit dept at Macy's
and the woman marked the expensive suit I had been eyeing
from 120.00 to 3.00...The suit was a return from the season before
I really liked it at 120.00 but was not going to pay that

I didn't get so lucky, they didn't have the DS and that was what i really wanted.
They did have a couple of MS punches that were down to 7 dollars, i didn't get those,
Maybe i will go back tomarrow and see what they have left.
I went to our WM the other day and got several border punches, a corner punch, and the branch punch for $3 each. They were on an end cap in the craft section.

I just love the smell of Stazon in the morning!

There is another thread here on scs that talks about the cricut carts released only to Walmart. They are the Lite series.
I miss the fabric dept also. They had some fabric I liked and just kept putting it off buying it. Now it is completely gone for good.
