I was just on SU! and I saw the new Grab Bags. They have discontinued items in them they are $5, $10, and $15. If you get them, please let me know if they're worth it! Thank you!!
Here's what the SU website says about the contents:
"Each bag will contain a variety of discontinued products that could include a combination of any of the following: ribbons, Accents & Elements, chipboard, Designer Series Papers, and Simply Sent kit components. Grab bags will not contain stamp sets or tools."
I ordered the $10 kit. It had a simply scrappin kit, several types of ribbon, buttons, chipboard circles, a single sheet of double sided paper, some small white cards, and a pack of cards with envelopes and cut cardstock to make 10 cards.

Is that worth $40.00? Just asking because I'm not familiar with SU prices at all. Without seeing it in person and only seeing the picture, it looks like $20.00 worth to me. I see on the website that the Simply Kits sell for about 36-55 dollars, but that includes the ink and stamps. Just curious.

I ordered the $10.00 one. It should be here Wed. or Thurs.
I guess what Jenny got for $10.00 doesn't look like lots. Maybe it's more than it looks. That's okay, I just thought it was fun! Kind of like when you were a kid. I remember getting a grab bag once and it was a bit disappointing! I think I'll be much more pleased with my SU bag!

My take: The actual product is probably valued less. But SU is going by the original prices that the kits were offered. WIth a kit, you are also paying for the cutting, scoring and packaging of all the individual components.
Hi! I received my $15 grab bag today. It was filled with card kit pieces, felt flowers,
a few brads & buttons, a little bit of ribbon and pre folded cards and envelopes.
I understand some Grab bags had dazzling diamonds in them, not mine. :( I was wishing
for DSP, but the card kit will put to good use.

so here is my update - I received mine just this morning...the joys of living in Canada SLOW shipping lol!
4 card kits
3 pieces of ribbon in little baggies
12 brads
stickers - yellow shade and red
I am not impressed - this was labelled as the $15 package for Canada - which of course cost $18. Perhaps its not the actual content but my expectations - I was expecting some good things - lie paper or full rolls of ribbon. Glad I actually ordered what I wanted from the site.
I will not order a grab bag again. Glad that others are happy.

I order a $10 grab bag also and this is exactly what I got in mine.
I ordered the $15.00 grab bag and received mine yesterday. It was a $5.00 and $10.00 grab bag. It had the same stuff as everyone else. I don't think it was worth $40.00. Oh well, I'll see what I can do with it!
geojenc and Canadian mom you were lucky to get so much. I got what was shown in the $5 bags, 4 very small buttons, 1 yd of choc. chip grossgrain, an 8.5x11" piece of cs & a 4x6 piece of chipboard with 6 circles punched. I would have been more happy with at least some more pieces of ribbon.
There is NO WAY this is worth $60.00:
5 sheets of cardstock
5 sheets of stickers
10 cards
10 envelopes
10 brown brads
10 strips of precut ribbon
Sure, its a grab bag so you take a chance on the contents. Thats not the point. I feel like such a fool. Did I get my $15.00 worth? Yes. Did I get $60.00 worth of product NO! I dont care how you SU demos try to spin it and Im sure about ten will come running in any minute to try to defend SU. (Dont want to hear it). I have a feeling for every 1 person who is happy with their bag, there are 25 who are NOT happy.
I think SU should be ashamed of themselves. If I were a first time customer I would never order from them again.
What I basically got were two Simply Card Kits from the 2008 catalog. I looked them up and new they cost about $22.00 each. So I received approximately $44.00 worth of materials. BACK in 2008 that is. So these kits appreciated by ten dollars a piece over the last three years? The stickers dont even stick. (And I wasted money on postage for this??). Live and learn I guess.
What goes around, comes around. Very bad Karma for SU. Ripping off people who keep her whole family in nice cars, homes, and clothes. How many of your children have we (the customer) put through college?

Shame, shame, shame.
That is TOO bad!!!! Thanks for sharing your experience. I was going to place my order tomorrow.
I got 2 different $15 bags and got a lot more stuff in each of them. Sorry you got a lemon. Call and let them know that you are disappointed. I liked my $10 bag the best. The $5 was ok - parts of 2 different kits.
My $15 kit that has brads has:
14 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock
2 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 self adhesive die cuts
1 sheet 8 1/2 x 11 designer paper
26 small sheets of self adhesive die cuts
20 folded cards with some panels for layering
20 envelopes
4 packages with lengths of ribbon
about 10 brown brads
The other $15 bag looks like it has 4 different kits.
Jenny Looks like I recieved the same kit as you - so if you come up with any brilliant ideas to do with the bits and pieces can up let me know.
As for Stampin Up, I don't think I can really expand on what has been said. They should be ashamed of themselves. I thought the golden rule of business was to treat your customers with respect. Obviously I was wrong.
I hope the short term gain was worthwhile, this is one customer who is walking away and not looking back.
Here's a 6 inch flip album that I made with the DSP and die cuts from the $10 bag (my favorite). I'm taking some grab bags to my next crop for some quick and easy card and mini album making.
[QUOTE=craftdoc;18203288] Call and let them know that you are disappointed.
I decided to contact Stampin Up to express my disappointment with the grab bag. I sent an email addressing that I understand there are no refund etc on grab bags. I am NOT expecting that they refund me, no one made me buy it.
I felt that if none of us express to them how we felt when received our bags then they won't know. I know some were happy and I was one that was not.
IF I were a demo (and I am not - just a spend happy customer) I would feel awful for my customers, and as someone mentioned that this offer may scare away a new customer.
I do think it is important to let them know when we are unhappy (in a respectful way). To be fair to them I also expressed that they do have quality products and I enjoy using them.
I know they will appreciate the feedback. I think the biggest issue is the stated value of the product, and then that it is in such small bits and pieces. And I didn't realize that they would mostly be duplicates. I was excited by the $10 kit, because it was perfect for some mini-album tutorials that I have been anxious to try. And I will even have enough to do a class. I'm going to challenge myself with the $5 bag today and see what I come up - will post later.
I finished my $5 challenge and came up with 25 quick and easy cards. I will need to add some envelopes, because the kit came with only 12. For the cards in the front, I did use some leftover die cuts from the minialbum a few posts above this. Other than that, I didn't add any additional consumables.
