slice cards @ Mike's NOW $4.99

I was at Mikes this evening & there M.M. Slice cards are now on clearance for $4.99!! Only ended up buying 1!!!

I really don't understand why all the Slice items have been put on clearance. On the MM website the Slice line is still listed at normal prices - is this line being phased out? I have the original Slice machine and was about to buy the Elite when I noticed all the clearance pricing going on, scared me off from making the investment.
