Debbie, I'm glad you did! We are all waiting for this. I'm sure it is a monumental task to put one together! It should be very exciting when we get it! Tks!

Jenski, to get on the list, send a PM to Twinklyn telling her that you are interested in a cookbook. Her inbox has been full lately (I can imagine these awesome ladies are very busy) so I think there is an E-mail address for her too.
Sara, there has not been a price quoted yet for sure. I'm sure it will be a fair one, though!
Best of wishes to Catie and Twinklyn for tackling this huge project--I hope you are feeling better, Catie!
Hopefully, the original requests will be honored. I can't even remember how long ago I asked to be put on the list to purchase one! It will be neat when we get it!
Is the possibility of a new cookbook even going to be a reality??? Seems like there has not been any news for quite a long time. Is there any updates on where this stands?
Has anyone ever done a community cookbook before??? Does it usually take over 3 years????
We did one for our church group about 18 months ago. It was spiral bound with index tabs and dividers with pockets. It took about 5 months including time for recipe submittal from members, formatting, original proofing and editing, proofing the final galley sheets and waiting for the printer's run. There were 3 of us who did the major work on the project while we all were working full time.
I think it would be really difficult to get it done working alone.
I imagine that one person doing it alone is a rather LARGE undertaking. Let's hope the lady who volunteered to do this is not having health issues! Let's be patient ladies!
I can't imagine why this has taken so long to do. I have 2 high school kids, both involved in many activities, a full time job & a m-i-l that needs assistance with shopping, etc. I managed to do a cookbook for the HS band in less than 4 months, start to finish. There are publishers who specialize in just this kind of thing & they make it really easy to do.
I am done waiting & am un-subscribing from this thread.
Wow... I thought ChrisPnMN was maybe a little harsh... but I had never read the WHOLE thread (admittedly I skipped the first few pages and got to the juicy stuff)..... I saw COOKBOOK and it was like a shiny thing I needed to investigate. Its a HUGE project and is built to take several months if only 1 person is working on it- 4 years is ridiculous. I'm surprised people didn't give up hope sooner!

I think the OP ran into family/health problems and maybe still does, don't know for sure. Instead of criticizing her, maybe they should have offer to help her. I think you have to find a company, than collect recipes, proofread them, organize them, send them in, and oh let's not forget the money that has to be put down (I think) before the company will even begin. BIG undertaking if she was the only one working on it and than receive angry, nasty e-mails as to why it's not finished....
I think everyone understands that things come up in life, but at the very least an update would be helpful, even if it is to say, look this isn't working out and I need to give up now. It has been almost a year since anyone has heard an update. When someone says that they are going to do something like this it also comes with the responsibilty of communicating with people what is going on, a responsibility that she put on herself by offering to do this and from a few posts I have read people have offered to help.
When all is said and done it is just a cookbook and it's not the end of the world if it doesn't get done, but at least let people know and they can either stop looking foward to it coming out or try and take over the project.
I think after 2years,(which still is along time) you would tell everyone you were handing it over to someone else because you cant finish it. Close to 4years is CRAZY!! I myself havent been waiting for it, just been reading this thread and surprised everyone still is.
Its irresponsible to not hand the project over if you can't handle it. It IS a lot of work and there were a lot of people that offered to help. But to give no updates and just disappear is kind of irresponsible. I can totally relate to outside struggles (mastectomy, reconstruction, husband has Crohns and hospitilazations... all in the last 3 years and we are only 2 but if you can't finish it ask for help or relinquish control. From what I can tell people would have been willing to preorder so the money thing shouldn't have been a huge problem. I've done that same thing with t-shirts we do for Race for the Cure so I don't have to plop down $300.
I can see how everyone would be frustrated, this has been going on for too long. Since no one has heard from Caty since 4-2009 I am wondering if life has gotten in the way. Since we know she is using Morris Press I sent an email to them to check on the status of this project. Don't mean to step on toes but we should be able to see if this project can be saved since most of the work has already been done. We will see if they respond and I will let you know what they say. I would think if this thing is sitting dormant they would like to finalize to get paid. Watch for an update, depending on how quick they are to respond.
Well Ladies here is the reply I received from Morris Press cook books. If any one entered any recipes online we may be able to get more info but otherwise it looks like we are dead in the water.

Peggy,
I looked into your question about an order from the Splitcoast stampers. We have no order for this organization. I also looked in our online TNS accounts and did not find any matches. If you did enter the recipes into our online TNS, please call me with the account number and I can get more information to you.
Please call and I may be able to find out more information for you.
