My wonderful sweetie proposed to me last Thursday. I just LOVE my ring and I could not be more excited!!! Of course my mind is racing on all of the plans and ideas. What cool stamping ideas or even unique wedding ideas do you ladies have? I'd love to hear them, or even see examples of cool wedding crafts that you have made. I must admit, I am not thrilled with the SU wedding sets that are available now.
Congratulations on your engagement!! It's definitely an exciting thing to start planning a wedding. I *love* wedding mags and often want to buy them just for the ideas, pictures, and to see the cake & flower decorations. (even though I'm already married ;)) You might want to try a keyword search in the gallery for wedding or invitations or something like that. Congrats again!
I did a whole bunch of wedding invite samples and wish I could scan them in to show off --
I used bazill paper and did a trifold, and put patterned paper with a vellum layer over it inside the trifolded cardstock. Secured with double-faced satin ribbon. BEAUTIFUL and elegant. Outside I embossed a trio of hearts and put a buckle on it to close it and embellished that with a square of silver cardstock which had a monogram embossed in silver on it.
None of the stuff I used was SU although some of the stamps I had in mind for samples were SU, and they were NOT wedding related. Just either squares of elegant flowers that when embossed anything is beautiful. You can pretty much make a lot of things look elegant embossed in gold or silver, especially using the silver or gold specialty cardstock.
We did "hugs and kisses from the new mr. and mrs." tags and inside cello bags put purple kisses since that was her color and silver hugs. These were wedding favors.
We used scrapbook paper for the guest book - just penciled in lines on the paper and used journaling pens -- she will erase the pencil lines and put the pages right in her scrapbook - rather than having a separate guest book that won't be looked at.
Good luck, I think vellum and specialty cardstock and beautiful patterned paper and bazzill textured cardstock all worked together for what I was doing. LOVE SU cardstock but wasn't formal enough. Joann's online joanns.com I think has 50 packs of any color you want and much cheaper than buying at the store. Got satin ribbon from bagsandbowsonline.com I think it was like 20 dollars but the ribbon is silver doublefaced and to die for.
Good luck, I will try to post some of my stuff in the next month or so since I am just very proud of how they turned out. Oh and the monogram stamp I had special ordered - used edwardian script font - which matched the font of the invitatoin. Many comments on that.
And for the suggestions -- Florals in the right colors make nice wedding themed items. Roses in Winter, Terrific Tulips, Watercolor minis, and Petal Prints are some that come to mind.
Don't forget that stamped candles make nice (and inexpensive) guest favors! You can even personalize them as place markers or wrap them in cellophane bags and organdy ribbon for nice gifts.
Congratulations! YAHOO I am so excited for you...This is such a wonderful time in your life...just don't let it stress you. Try to enjoy every single moment. AND scrap it all. Save stuff for your wedding album. It would be so cool to write in a journal during this time so that you can save it for your kids someday. I *wish* I had done that. I am sure I could overwhelm you with ideas...But I suggest checking here in the gallery and also PaperCrafts Magazine's website. If I remember correctly they have had wedding sets and ideas in their magazine more than once. If I think of or find anything else that will help...I will be sure to come back and share.
If you have family, friends, and a supportive wedding party you should be able to get them to help and plan a ton of things for you...Like favors, gifts, invitations, and thank you notes. I suppose my first and most important suggestion would be to decide on a budget and if you want some things handmade or not. Best Wishes!
You guys are so great! I appreciate all of the ideas. We are not sure exactly when, but we will probably be getting married in my FI's hometown in southern VA. I love the monogram look that seems to be very popular right now. I just ordered the "B" big letter from the sprin mini, this is going to be my new last initial. Thanks again, and I'll keep you all in the loop!

Congrats on the wonderful news! I saw that you are in the twin cities. Me too! I am getting married at the end of April and I got a lot of my ideas from Paper Depot in Minneapolis. They have a wedding card making class (I think it is $15.00) and then they give you a $10 gc to use in their store. They have TONS of samples. I actually used the idea of a few samples and the nice lady there helped me design my own invites. Definately check them out!
I agree with what others have said. Use your friends to help you & set a budget. I have gone over mine a little bit but it kept me looking for how I can save a little cash.
Tealight Wineglass Lamps would make very nice and inexpensive centerpieces for the reception tables. Genie Bags or Explosion Boxes could be very nice guest favors. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Congratulations! My DH and I have been married now for over 8 years. I wish I had been into stamping when we got married. I did make my own bouquets, veil and fancy wedding shoes, but the stamping would have really been nice too.
Congrats! I just made the "Save the Date" for my friend's daughter and her upcoming wedding. I used this sample for inspiration. However when you opened it I put the wedding info on a magnet--seems to be the "thing" now. They turned out really cute and were easy to make. Good Luck!
